General Questions

Dashlane is a password manager and digital wallet that securely stores your passwords, personal information, and payment details. It works by:

  • Encrypting all your data with military-grade encryption
  • Auto-filling login credentials on websites and apps
  • Generating strong, unique passwords for each account
  • Syncing your data across all your devices
  • Monitoring the dark web for your personal information

Security Questions

Dashlane uses multiple layers of security to protect your data:

  • Zero-Knowledge Architecture: Your master password is never sent to our servers. All encryption/decryption happens on your device.
  • AES-256 Encryption: Military-grade encryption that's virtually impossible to crack.
  • Two-Factor Authentication: Add an extra layer of security to your account.
  • Security Audits: Regular third-party security audits and penetration testing.
  • GDPR Compliant: Fully compliant with global data protection regulations.
  • No Backdoors: We don't include backdoors that could compromise your security.

Due to our zero-knowledge architecture, Dashlane cannot recover or reset your master password. This is a security feature that ensures only you can access your data.

If you forget your master password, you have these options:

  1. Account Recovery: If you set up account recovery when creating your account, you can use this to reset your master password.
  2. Start Fresh: You can create a new Dashlane account. However, you'll lose access to any data stored in your previous account.
  3. Emergency Contact: If you've set up emergency access, your designated contacts can grant you access after a waiting period.

Important: We strongly recommend storing your master password in a safe place or using a password manager recovery kit.

No, Dashlane employees cannot see your passwords or any of your encrypted data.

This is because of our zero-knowledge security model:

  • All encryption and decryption happens on your device
  • Your master password never leaves your device
  • We only store encrypted data that we cannot read
  • Even if our servers were compromised, attackers would only get encrypted data

This architecture ensures that you are the only person who can access your sensitive information.

Features Questions

  • Hide Your IP Address: Masks your location and online identity
  • No Logs Policy: We don't track or store your browsing activity
  • Easy Activation: One-click activation from the Dashlane app

Troubleshooting

If Dashlane isn't auto-filling on certain websites, try these solutions:

  1. Check Browser Extension: Ensure the Dashlane extension is installed and enabled
  2. Update Extension: Make sure you have the latest version of the extension
  3. Check Website Compatibility: Some websites use non-standard login forms
  4. Manual Fill: Use the Dashlane icon in the password field or right-click to fill
  5. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes cached data can interfere with auto-fill
  6. Check Pop-up Blockers: Disable pop-up blockers on the site
  7. Reinstall Extension: Remove and reinstall the browser extension
